Teacher attends science workshop
Maple Heights resident Copeland Lauder, who is a Shaker Middle School science teacher, recently attended a two-day Science Teacher Workshop at Marietta College sponsored by the Ohio Oil & Gas Energy Education Program.
Lauder studied an energy education curriculum, listened to industry speakers and conducted science experiment labs. On the second day, the teachers moved out of the classroom for a field trip to learn the various phases of exploring, drilling and producing Ohio crude oil and natural gas.
Lauder, who was born in Jamaica, is also a geologist. The recent OOGEEP workshop was the fourth one he has attended.
OOGEEP is a non-profit statewide education and public outreach program voluntarily funded by Ohio's crude oil and natural gas industry.
