May 8 -- A Glendale Preschool Fair will be conducted from 5 to 8 p.m. at Glendale Primary School, 400 West Glendale Ave., Bedford. It is intended for families in the Bedford City Schools with children age 5 and under. Reservations are required. For information, call 440-786-3517.

May 9-10 -- The Bedford Garden Club's annual plant sale will be May 9-10 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 69 Pinecrest Drive, off Broadway Avenue, in Bedford. On sale will be perennials, herbs, shrubs and specialty plants, many of which are deer resistant. Members will be there to share insights and advice. The event will take place rain or shine. May 9-10 -- The Bedford City Schools' Transportation Department will host a garage sale and craft fair May 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. and May 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the schools transportation department, 25441 Solon Road, Bedford Heights. Admission is $1. This year's sale is expected to be bigger than last year's. More than 40 crafters and vendors will offer hand-made items and crafts for sale. Crafters include jewelry, candles, Tupperware, Avon, Pampered Chef, silk flower arrangements and woodcrafts. In addition, there will be a sale of new and gently used collectibles, household items, books, games and toys. Visitors can also enjoy a hot lunch and purchase freshly baked items to take home and enjoy. Proceeds benefit the Bedford School District's Boot and Shoe Fund and the Support Our Schools Committee. May 9 -- Cub Scout Pack 447 is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at VFW Post 1082, 343 Northfield Road, Bedford. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children age 11 and under, and free for children age 3 and under. The meal will include all-you-can-eat homemade spaghetti and meatballs, salad, beverage, bread and dessert. Take-out meals will be available. For more information, call 440-439-3426.

May 10 -- The Slovenian Women's Union of Maple Heights will conduct a meeting at 11:30 a.m. at Maple Heights Regional Library, 5225 Library Lane, Maple Heights. A light lunch will be served. There is no charge, but reservations are required. Call 330-467-0696.

May 13 -- The city of Maple Heights is holding a free foreclosure seminar from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Maple Heights Regional Library, 5225 Library Lane. The library is off Libby Road between Broadway Avenue and Lee Road. Participants can take advantage of free counseling from Housing Advocates, Neighborhood Housing Services and Community Housing Solutions. The counselors will be available to answer questions and look over mortgage documents. They also can advise on ARM resets, refinancing and other concerns. This event is open to everyone. May 15 -- Discover the secrets of a nearby nature treasure when David Wright, naturalist at Shaker Lakes Nature Center, talks to the Bedford Garden Club at 7:30 p.m. at Ellenwood Center, 124 Ellenwood Ave., Bedford. Called Dike 14, it is a man-made 88-acre peninsula for migratory birds in northeast Ohio.
