Maple Heights -- Police are awaiting a coroner's report to determine the cause of death of an 84-year-old Rockside Road woman found dead in her home Feb. 26.
It appears the woman had been dead for "several weeks," said Maple Heights Police Sgt. Joe Ehrbar.
According to Ehrbar, the woman's attorney stopped by her home to shovel the sidewalk. When he was finished, he noticed the front door was unlocked.
Ehrbar said the man noticed an odor and found the woman lying on the floor in the downstairs bathroom and called 911.
The home had heat, which was turned to 75 degrees, Ehrbar said.
"There is no immediate evidence of criminal activity," he said. "However, because of the condition of the body, we still need to the coroner's report to determine the cause of death."
Ehrbar said he expects the report to be ready in about two weeks.
