Bedford -- Two businesses at the intersection of Northfield and Rockside roads are slated to open soon.
Officials from GetGo/Giant Eagle said there will be an official ribbon-cutting for their store/gas station at 400 Northfield Road Jan. 16 at 5 p.m.
Wal-Mart officials said their 195,000 square-foot supercenter is scheduled to open March 7.
"We are very excited about these openings," said Economic Development Director Rebecca Corrigan. "We went from nothing at those corners for years and now we believe these two businesses will be a draw for the city."
Amy Wyatt-Moore, spokesperson for Wal-Mart, said the company plans to hire about 400 employees for the new store. She said a hiring center has been set up at the Southeast YMCA, 460 Northfield Road, Bedford.
Anyone interested can fill out an application at the YMCA.
"The store will be open 24 hours a day and will offer general merchandise as well as groceries," she said.
Wyatt-Moore said the Wal-Mart supercenter facility also will have a hair and nail salon, a bank, an optometry center, a tire and automotive center, a Subway restaurant, a photo center and a drive-through pharmacy.
According to a press release from Giant Eagle/GetGo, the new gas station will also include a car wash, a kitchen offering sandwiches and blended fruit drinks, a grocery section and a cafe with free wireless Internet.
GetGo officials said the store will be open 24 hours a day and will have "a few dozen" employees.
