Habitat of Humanity's ReStore opens

Habitat for Humanity of Summit County will be joined by Habitat's first volunteer and the creator of "sweat equity" to open the doors to the organization's new ReStore facility on Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at the facility located at 1020 Canton Road in Akron.

The Habitat ReStore is a retail store open to the public that sells donated new and used building materials and home items. The ReStore includes items such as insulation, drywall, lumber, sinks, shower doors, cabinets and appliances. Items will be sold at anywhere from 50 percent to 80 percent below retail value.

All ReStore profits will be used to finance the construction of more Habitat homes in Summit County.

To donate items to the ReStore, call Rick Thoerig at 330-784-2100. Arrangements can be made to pick up items for those unable to drop them off.

The ReStore also will be working with individuals and groups interested in serving as volunteer sales clerks for the store. To volunteer, call Jenny Koster at 330-784-2100.
