Getting to Know You: Robert Erdos

September 6, 2007

Name: Robert Erdos

Age: 71

Marital status: Married to wife Julianne

Occupation: Retired from Ameritech as a manager in the technical and computer support department. Currently a member of the Bedford Planning Commission.

How long have you lived in Bedford: Since 1970.

How would you describe Bedford to someone who has never been there? It's a town with a lot of great services. We have excellent safety forces and other services. Where else could you call animal control to remove skunks from your yard?

Have you had to call on animal control before? One year we had a real problem with skunks in the area and I called the animal control people. They came out and took care of the problem. I have relatives in other communities who have had to hire someone for that kind of service.

What kinds of activities do you enjoy? I like to golf. My wife and I also go out once a month with several couples from our neighborhood.

Where do you like to vacation? My wife and I like to visit Maine. We lived there when I was stationed in the U.S. Navy. We also enjoy Aruba.

What is your favorite movie/television show? One of my favorite movies is "Some Like it Hot." I also like watching reruns of the TV show "Seinfeld." I've watched so many episodes that I think I have some memorized.

What is your greatest accomplishment? Graduating from the University of Akron. I didn't finish until I was 30. I had a wife and family and was working a full-time job.

Whom do you most admire, excluding family members? General Chuck Yeager, the first pilot to break the sound barrier, because of his tenacity.

Something people don't know about me ... Is that when I was younger, I wanted to be a cartoonist.
