Lutheran Church
of the Covenant
plans 60th anniversary
hymn festival
Lutheran Church of the Covenant, 19000 Libby Road, Maple Heights, will conduct its 60th anniversary hymn festival on June 3 at 3:30 p.m. Traditional favorite and contemporary hymns will be presented by the United Handbell Choir, the Covenant Brass Quintet, instrumentalists and choirs accompanied by a 1980 Schlicker tracker pipe organ.
Covenant was founded as a congregation in the then fast-growing suburb of Maple Heights in 1947 when two previous congregations merged.
The congregation took off and became a leader in Maple Heights.
Now, celebrating 60 years of service, Covenant works with the Maple Heights Schools, the mayor's court and community re-entry to assist teens who are at-risk to stay in school and graduate.
Covenant is also a site for Interfaith Hospitality Network, which houses homeless families in churches and synagogues while they find more permanent housing. Covenant members have also been heavily involved in the area's Southeast Clergy Hunger Center and Meals on Wheels.
