MAPLE HEIGHTS (AP) — Authorities say robbery appears to be the motive behind the shooting of a Maple Heights postal carrier.
Daniel Kondas, a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service, died Thursday, about 13 hours after he was shot in the head while delivering mail in Maple Heights.
Police arrested Randie Winston for questioning. He is being held on suspicion of aggravated murder, and prosecutors say charges will be filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
Witnesses saw a man running from the scene, and Winston was arrested in a home one block away. Maple Heights police Lt. Tim Love says Winston gave detectives a statement about the shooting. Details of the statement have not been made public.
There was no information on whether Winston has an attorney.
