World War II veteran

Services were April 6 at the United Methodist Church Macedonia for Northfield Center resident Walter J. "Jack" Lewis Sr. Mr. Lewis, 83, died April 2, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic.

Mr. Lewis was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Oil City, Pa. to Walter and Anna Lewis. He worked as a materials supervisor for Conrail. Mr. Lewis was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 363 of Oil City, Pa., the Royal Arch Lodge of Summit County and Eastern Star Lodge 512. He loved woodworking and anything outdoors.

Mr. Lewis was the husband of Phyllis, (Taylor) and the father of Pat (Dennis) Calhoun, Judy (Ray) Willett, Jack Jr. (Kim) and Chuck (Robin). He was the brother of Dorothy Wygant and Bobby. He had eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Burial was at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens, Cranberry, Pa.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Mr. Lewis' name be made to Taussig Cancer Center at the Cleveland Clinic, 9500 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, 44105, or the American Heart Association, 1689 East 115th Street, Cleveland, 44106. Ferfolia Funeral Home handled arrangements.
