THEODOSIA 'TEDDY' FRANETIC

Former Maple Heights resident

Theodosia Stephanie Franetic, nee Gutt, known as Teddy by her friends and family, died July 12, 2008, in her sleep at her son's home in San Leandro, Calif., where her family had gathered to be with her in her last days. She was 86.

Teddy was born in Cleveland in 1922. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Valentine Gutt. In 1949 Teddy married Joseph Paul Franetic.

She lived with her husband on Miller Avenue in Maple Heights for more than 50 years. She worked hard all her life to help support her family and reach their goal to buy a house in Maple Heights, where she lived until her husband's death. They remained married until Joseph passed away in 2003.

Teddy was known as a local character, helping those in need and making people laugh wherever she went. She always said what was exactly on her mind. She took care of family and friends during their times of ill health and need. She put the hardships of friends and family before her own.

After her husband died, she lived with a friend in South Euclid where she was well known and loved.

Teddy is survived by her sons and their spouses, Joseph Anthony Franetic and Amanda Azous, and Michael Gregory Franetic and Debra Butera.

Pacific Interment Funeral Home in Emeryville, Ca., handled arrangements.
