Bedford Heights Chamber changes hours, sets schedule

Bedford Heights -- The Bedford Heights Chamber of Commerce, 24816 Aurora Road, Suite C, is changing its office hours. It will be open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Chamber invites business and home owners to a meeting on energy conservation April 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bedford Heights City Hall, 5661 Perkins Road. Cost is $10 per person, which includes lunch. The discussion will include tips for energy conservation, how to reduce energy dependency, information on grants available for an energy audit and other ways to save money. The Bedford Heights Chamber annual golf outing will be June 13 at Grantwood Golf Course in Solon. Details will follow soon. Volunteers are needed for the golf committee. Those interested can call Greg Bokar at 216-292-4620.

The Bedford Heights Service Department plans a Computer Recycle Program April 1 to 30. Drop off a personal computer, monitor or printer at 25401 Solon Road from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For additional information, call the service department at 440-232-8832.

The Southeast Branch Library, 70 Columbus Road in Bedford, has several upcoming Chamber-related events.

On April 7 at 10 a.m. will be a Monday Morning Health Talk presented by UHHS titled "A Good Night Sleep is Not Only A Dream."

On April 16 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. will be Breakfast Bytes. Representatives from two of the top business information databases (Reference USA and Gale Virtual Business Plans) will provide information on how to use these tools for developing contact lists, information on companies and people and developing a business. Common uses are finding businesses based on employee size, sales volume, type of business and location. Conduct market research about industries and companies.

On May 3 at 11 a.m. will be a presentation on a Business Plan Development. A solid business plan is vital for planning and obtaining financing for a small business. Learn how to develop ideas and goals into a clear mission with a detailed business plan. An expert from the WECO Fund will be on hand.

plan open house

Several area home-based businesses plan a combined spring open house April 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 70 Woodrow Ave. in Bedford.

Participating will be Dawn Bene with Tastefully Simple, Cassie Krusick with CK Handbags, Kate Hankinson with Tupperware and Kristen Puhlman with Lia Sophia Jewelry.
