by Tim Troglen Reporter Maple Heights -- A 19-year-old Garfield Heights man wanted in connection with a March 5 shooting death in Cleveland was arrested March 15 after he led police on a chase that ended in a creek in Maple Heights. De'Von Craig was charged with aggravated murder in the death of Kameron Winterow, 24, of Cleveland, said Lt. Tom Stacho, Cleveland police spokesperson. He is in the Cleveland City Jail awaiting a court hearing in the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. According to court records, an attorney has yet to be assigned to the case. According to Garfield Heights Police Capt. Robert Sackett, Craig was arrested near Broadway Avenue and Greenhurst Drive by officers from both Maple Heights and Garfield Heights after a "rather low-speed" car and foot chase that lasted about a mile. Sackett said Garfield Heights police received a tip that Craig would be at a Broadway Avenue address in Garfield Heights. Sackett said police spotted a car matching the description provided by Cleveland police near the home and turned on their sirens and lights, but the driver refused to stop. After about a mile, the car stopped and Craig, a passenger, jumped out and ran off. Police caught up with him a short distance away. "He ended up in a creek where he was apprehended, dripping and cold," Sackett said. Sackett said Craig had a backpack with him which contained a "semi-automatic handgun" of unknown caliber. Craig was turned over to Cleveland police. The driver, whom police have not identified, stayed in the car, was arrested without incident and may be charged with unspecified traffic offenses, Sackett said. The driver was not charged in connection with Winterow's shooting, Sackett said. Stacho would not disclose any details about the shooting, which took place in Cleveland.
