Local voters will sort through nearly 20 candidates vying for state and federal legislative positions in the March 4 primary election.

U.S. House of Representatives District 10 appears to be the most contested seat, as incumbent Congressman Dennis Kucinich will face challengers Joe Cimperman, Barbara Ann Ferris, Thomas O'Grady and Rosemary Palmer for the Democratic nomination.

The winner of that race will face the winner of the Republican primary contest between Jim Trakas and Jason Warner in the November general election.

District 10 covers parts of Oakwood and Walton Hills.

In the U.S. House of Representatives District 11 race, incumbent Democrat Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Republican Thomas Pekarek are running unopposed.

Bedford, Bedford Heights, Maple Heights and Oakwood are part of the 11th District.

In the Ohio House of Representatives 17th District, a two-person race is shaping up for the November election. Incumbent Josh Mandel, from Lyndhurst, who is finishing his first term in office, has filed to be the Republican party's candidate, while Robert S. Belovich, a Parma attorney, has filed to be the Democratic pick.

District 17 covers Oakwood and Walton Hills.

One Republican candidate and one Democratic candidate have filed to run for the Ohio House of Representatives District 12 seat. Incumbent Democrat Michael DeBose of Cleveland is running as well as Republican Bryan Glencer of Garfield Heights.

District 12 represents parts of Cuyahoga County including Maple Heights.

In Ohio House 8 there is one Democrat and one Republican.

Incumbent Armond Budish, a Democrat, has filed to run for his second term in office Republican Jerry Powell is also running unopposed.

District 8 represents parts of Cuyahoga County, including Bedford and Bedford Heights.

Both candidates running in the Ohio Senate District 24 primary election are unopposed. Democrat Emanuel Cotronakis and Republican Thomas Patton will square off in the fall for the seat currently filled by Robert Spada. Spada cannot run again because of term limits.

District 24 represents parts of Cuyahoga County, including Oakwood and Walton Hills.
