Maple Heights -- Secret Service agents are investigating alleged threats made against President Bush Feb. 19 by a local man.

According to Maple Heights Police Detective Gerald Prusha, agents asked Maple Heights police to meet them at the man's home shortly after 5 p.m. Feb. 19 as they investigated the man, who the Secret Service said "made threats towards the United States President," a Maple Heights police report stated.

Prusha said he didn't know if the alleged threat was verbal.

The Secret Service did not return calls for comment. No local charges have been filed, Prusha said.

The man was gone when police arrived, and the manager was told to call police if he returned.

Vandalism

Feb. 18. There is no "i" in auto repair: The owner of a Granger Road auto repair shop told police he believed someone threw a beer bottle at the company's sign and broke the "i" during the night. The owner said he would repair the sign himself. He did not list a damage estimate for the sign.

Feb. 18. Unlocked bicycle taken: A 21-year-old Cleveland man told police a blue girl's bicycle, worth $20, was taken while he was inside the Maple Heights Regional Library. The man said the bike was left unlocked.

Feb. 19. Pipes, water tank disappear: The owner of a vacant Granger Road home told police someone broke into the house and took all the copper plumbing from the ceiling and walls, along with the hot water tank and exterior rain spouts. The man did not list a damage total for the missing items.
