Police News: Cleveland man said he was robbed by men in car

Maple Heights -- A Cleveland man told police he was walking on Raymond Street around 7:45 p.m. Feb. 9 when two men jumped out of a white car, pointed handgun at him and demanded money.

The victim said the men took an undisclosed amount of money from him, then got back into the car and drove away. No one was hurt.

The victim got a partial description on the men. He said the two men were black, and one had a full goatee.

Anyone with information should call the Maple Heights police at 216-662-1234.

Public indecency

Feb. 11. Utility worker cited: A utility truck driver was cited for public indecency by police after a resident spotted him urinating near some construction barrels on McCracken Road shortly before noon.

The resident called police, who questioned the man about the alleged indecent.

According to the police report, the man admitted relieving himself and was cited.

Unfounded complaint

Feb. 20. Suspicious person bagged: A Thomas Street woman told police around 8:45 p.m. that a person had been leaning against a utility pole for three hours. However, police said the "person" turned out to be a black bag covering one of the electric boxes on the pole. Police said as the wind blew, it filled the bag and appeared to be a person.

Shoplifting

Feb. 12. Vitamins lifted: An employee of a Libby Road nutrition center said two men walked into the store around 3:15 p.m. and offered to exchange $20 and some "white powder" for some protein drinks. After the employee said he could not make the trade, the men allegedly took a $50 pack of vitamins from a shelf and left.

Police advised the employee to call them if the men returned.

Assault

Feb. 12. Man chased by juveniles: An anonymous caller told police he saw a man being beaten up and then chased by five juveniles near the corner of Thomas Street and Maple Heights Boulevard around 3:15 p.m.

Police could not find the alleged victim and are investigating.

Shots fired

Feb. 9. Shots heard: A Maple Heights Boulevard man told police he heard what sounded like six shots from an automatic weapon.

The man said the shots sounded like they were within 300 yards of his home.

Police searched the area and did not find any evidence of a gun being fired.

Suspicious person

Feb. 11. Possible prowler footprints found: A Clement Street woman told police she saw a person walking around outside of her home around 8:30 a.m.

While investigating, police found a set of footprints in the snow near a vacant home.

However, police said they did not find any evidence of tampering with the woman's home.
