Maple Heights " Unlike the City Council races, the election for the Maple Heights Board of Education
Nov. 6 was a night for the incumbents.
Of the two seats open, both were won by current office-holders.
Board of Election President Lori Chick, who was first elected to the Board in 2004, was the top of three vote-getters with 38.8 percent of the votes cast, according to final but unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
"I'm honored and grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the district," Chick said. Chick is a service and support administrator for the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Development.
Board of Education Vice President
Mike White also won, taking 33.9 percent of the votes cast.
White, like Chick, has served on the Board since 2004.
"I want to thank the voters of Maple Heights for the confidence they've shown, electing me to serve another four years," White said. "I will continue to be a good fiscal officer and constant advocate for the kids."
White is a field operator with Dominion East Ohio Gas.
Former Councilor Ted Lockmiller rounded out the field of three, earning
26.5 percent of the votes cast.
"It turned out probably the way it should have," Lockmiller said after the results were final. "I want to congratulate Mike and Lori. They ran a good race. It was nice to be involved in a race that was above board all the way."
He said the results showed the incumbents, along with the rest of the Board are "doing a good job."
"And based on the fact that almost 1,600 people voted for me shows I was in fact a viable candidate for the Board of Education," Lockmiller said.
