Maple Heights -- A former business has returned to the city where it originated in 1981-- Maple Heights.

Northeast Ohio Fence, 14855 Broadway Ave., which left the city in 2004 for Garfield Heights, opened up shop again in Maple Heights May 1.

The company has 12 employees and specializes in fence and deck installation, said Jim Randall, who co-owns the business with his uncle, Rick Bernardo, the founder of the fence company.

The 6,000-square-foot building formerly housed the Cleveland Builder's Supply company, which moved out late last year.

Randall said he likes that Maple Heights is "centrally located so we can go in any direction." Gerry Trafis, Maple Heights economic development director, said he was enthused about the acquisition.

"Northeast Ohio Fence is a very reputable company," Trafis said.

Northeast Ohio Fence is part of the corporate center that is being established in the northwest quadrant of Broadway Avenue.

Northeast Ohio Fence is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m.

Randall said the company is open Saturday mornings, but the crew is usually on the road.
